Spring fashion
Spring fashion brings with it an outpouring of new colour, but choosing what’s right for you can be a real challenge. Debbie Albrecht of Colours Plus lends her expertise for this month’s makeover, showing how the right colour and style can really lift your look. Debbie is passionate about teaching women how to wear colour with confi dence and how to create your own personalised style. Fashion is from JAKS and hair is by Pauline at Rustic.
Knowing what to wear starts with knowing which colours suit you and knowing how to dress your body shape.
So when Debbie Albrecht of Colours Plus chose a spring outfi t for this month’s makeover model, Ruth Bagrie, she knew she was working with ‘an A’.
“That means someone who has narrow shoulders and wider hips, so at JAKS I chose a top that would make her shoulders appear wider and her hips appear more narrow.”
Body shape isn’t the only factor that needs to be considered in a style makeover. Another key is skin-tone. Debbie says Ruth is a ‘Spring’ which means she’s best suited to wearing bright, clear colours.
The fi nal piece in the puzzle is ‘clothing personality’. Debbie has spent time getting to know Ruth and knows her preference is for a feminine style that is both classic and elegant. “She also loves wearing red – and this top is just the right red for her.”
Debbie is a personal stylist makeover special ist and works with Mary Kay skincare and makeup products as an independent Mary Kay beauty consultant. For this makeover, Debbie selected bright, clear colours. “The look is very natural. The lipstick is Sweet Nectar and she could wear that with all the colours in her wardrobe.”
Ruth’s hair makeover was by Pauline, at Rustic Superior Hair Treatments. Pauline chose natural warm golden tones and pre-lightened foils from Luminart. The products used were ammonia-free and very gentle on the hair, without any strong odours. Luminart’s ingredients are protective and conditioning, leaving the hair healthy and strong. Ingredients include sunfl ower extract, olive extract, coconut oil and UV fi lter.
Pauline worked with Ruth to create a natural-looking style that included shortening the length, creating a fringe and adding texturised layers. Foils were also placed so as to create a very natural look for Ruth that will be easy to maintain. The gorgeous new season fashion was selected by Debbie at JAKS.
