Unwind at Seagars

With so much quake damage in the central city, country cafes like Seagars at Oxford are coming into their own as places to go for some escape and relaxing time out.

Celebrity chef Jo Seagar brings her passion for local produce and wine to this special café, along with her legendary hospitality. Every customer will feel welcome.

Since the February earthquake, Seagars has been catering to many new customers from the city. The casual café atmosphere, along with great coffee and delicious fresh baking, is a big attraction, particularly given that so many city venues are currently not operating.

The three-tiered plate, with its selection of tasty nibbles, is proving popular with groups who love the old-fashioned experience of a leisurely afternoon tea.

Not only are visitors enjoying the pleasures of this gorgeous café, but also Oxford’s other attractions like the Arts in Oxford gallery. A café outing with shopping and the chance to explore the township is providing a lovely diversion.

Seagar’s Kitchen Store is also attracting plenty of interest from people wanting to re-stock good quality kitchen tools, like cast iron ware and food processors.

Jo’s Cook School is operating as usual, providing courses in home cooking to small groups looking for new recipes for their cooking repertoire. This is a hands-on cooking class experience, designed to reinvigorate home cooks. Details on when these courses are available are on the website, www.joseagar.com or phone 03 312 1435.

Seagars at Oxford is open seven days, 8am to 4pm, at 78 Main Street, Oxford.
