Back for a second bite … Hot Club Sandwich!

Rangiora will once again swing to the infectious rhythms and superb musicianship of Hot Club Sandwich next month at Rossburn Rangiora.

Events with Attitude and Arts on Tour New Zealand (AOTNZ) are excited to be able to reprise this talented Wellington trio for another sizzling night on Sunday, August 7.

Doors open at 5pm, with the show starting at 6.30pm. Everyone is invited to bring their own drinks, nibbles and platters to enjoy throughout the show.

“We’re so pleased to be hosting Hot Club Sandwich for another great night of swinging jazz. We look forward to seeing you with your friends. We’ll have the fire going and everything ready for you by the time the doors open at 5pm,” says essence publisher and promoter Dorothy McLennan.

For those new to the Hot Club Sandwich sound, you can expect improvised solos, finely crafted three-part vocal harmonies, tight arrangements and swinging rhythms that draw their inspiration from the 1930s Hot Club swing music of gypsy guitarist Django Reinhardt and violinist Stephane Grappelli. This popular trio, which sings about household appliances, male insecurities and rugby culture trio, enjoys poking fun at the everyday concerns of kiwi life.

Bass player Terry ‘The Engine Room’ Crayford, saxophonist James Tait Jamieson and guitarist songwriter Andrew London have played at arts and jazz festivals all over Australasia and have released seven CDs and a live DVD. Their 2004 album ‘Toasted’ rated a four star review in Downbeat USA, the world’s most widely read jazz publication.

Their songs have featured in NCEA English papers and movie soundtracks.
