Marlene’s Makeover

We were pleased to receive a letter this month from Amy Morland, nominating her mother, Marlene, for an essence makeover. Marlene lost her home in last September’s earthquake, yet has continued to be a pillar of strength for her family. Marlene, you have well and truly earned this makeover and we love your new look.

 Taking care of Marlene’s cut and colour on her special day was Carly at Rustic Superior Hair Treatments.

Carly chose to soften Marlene’s overall colour with LuminArts Ammonia Free Powder Lightner. This product was selected as it is gentle on the hair. Carly also chose splices of Copper Candy to add some vibrancy. These had the effect of enhancing Marlene’s gorgeous blue eyes.

To complete the contemporary and flattering new look for Marlene, a soft side fringe and shaping was added while the length was brought up to the shoulders. With excess hair textured out, Marlene will now find she has more flexibility with her styling. Smooth Operator – a moisturising thermal protector – was applied prior to styling, finishing with a Shine spray.

At Health 2000, makeup artist Bex worked exclusively with the organic Inika range of cosmetics. She applied the liquid and mineral foundation to give Marlene a flawless, natural coverage. For her eyes and eyeliner, Bex selected Burnt Sienna, a tone that complemented the highlights in her hair.

To complete her makeup, a finishing touch of blush and a soft creamy lipstick (Bordeaux Bliss) were applied.
